Birth of a Firehawk

I looked in 1994 but completely missed out on the six-speeds, not to mention Firehawks. Oh well...I was resigned to get a Formula when, during a test drive in February 1995, my wife asks about Firehawks. Considering the lie I just got from this guy concerning Formula vs. T/A suspensions, I figured he wouldn't have a clue. Fortunately I was wrong.

That ended the test drive right there. I strung him along for a couple of days while I checked Pontiac dealers in a radius around Austin as far as Waco with no luck. Either they never heard of them, couldn't guarantee me one, or wanted a six kilodollar deposit. In any case, I'd have to order which was fine considering how picky I am. Turns out this dealer managed to trade for the privilege to order six cars from SLP and even managed to get three in including mine before production was cut short. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I picked my color and was raped on the price. Make no mistake, this was a seller's market.
